Hawaiian Dreams
Do you want to experience for yourself where the Hawaiian connection came from? There really is no more exotic combination of a beach and sightseeing holiday, which can also be combined with a visit to the continental USA - beautiful beaches, sea turtles, whales, dolphins, active volcanoes, landscapes like in Jurassic Park (which was filmed here, as well as many other movies) and the best pineapples and coffee plantations we know.
On the first day we have a long journey from Europe to Los Angeles, where we will stay overnight in one of the airport's fine hotels.
The next morning we will fly to Honolulu on the island of Oahu. Here, depending on your own preference of location and type of hotel, you can rent a car at the airport (unless you plan to live directly on Waikiki Beach, where parking is unnecessarily expensive and we recommend that you rent a car on the day of the planned trip), or take an Uber to the hotel. If you prefer a quieter location and just want to drive to Waikiki to check it out, we recommend the Marriott Vacation Club apartments on the west side of the island in Ko-Olina, where you'll find a private lagoon and beach and a large selection of pools including a waterfall, cave and water slide, which the kids will love. If, on the other hand, you're craving the hustle and bustle of the big city, then we recommend the Ala Moana Surfrider, which was built in 1901 and is the oldest hotel in Waikiki, and where you'll really feel like travelers in the last century. Or the other iconic oldest hotel next door, the Royal Hawaiian Hotel, where everything is pink - from the facade, to the bathrobes in your room, to the croissants at the local bakery, to the pancakes at the local restaurant for breakfast.
On the third day you will relax on the beach and by the pool.
On the fourth day you will go exploring the island of Oahu. We'll start with a stop at Pali Mountain and continue northeast to Wimanaloa Beach and continue with a walk to the lighthouse on Makapu'U Reef. We will then cross the southeast of the island, where we will enjoy several more beautiful views, back to the hotel.
On our fifth day we will start with a visit to Pearl Harbour and then the Dole pineapple plantation awaits us with great fresh pineapple and pineapple ice cream. In the afternoon we will then move on to the town of Haleiwa and sea turtle watching at Laniakea Beach.
The morning of the sixth day will be spent on the beach or by the pool and in the afternoon we will fly to Kauai, which is called the island of gardens. Here we recommend staying at the Sheraton Coconut Beach Hotel, which, thanks to its location in the middle of the island, is a great starting point for exploring it.
On the seventh day we head west to Kauai's biggest attraction, Waimea Canyon. Along the way, you'll stop at the overlook of Opeakaa and Wailua Falls.
On the eighth day, on the other hand, we'll head north of the island, first stopping at the Kilauea Cliff Lighthouse, then continuing through the town of Princeville to Maniniholo Cave near Ha'ena Beach, where beautiful views await us along the way. Then on the way back we will spend the afternoon at Anini beach, which is just made for children.
On the morning of the ninth day, we fly to Maui, where immediately upon arrival we head to the north of the island to drive part of the legendary 'Road to Hana', a winding road that takes 620 curves and crosses 59 bridges along its length. We recommend at least reaching the Haipua'ena waterfall. Then it's on to the Sheraton Maui Resort and Spa on the west side of the island just off Kaanapali Beach, with a stop at the Iao Monolith National Park along the way.
Day 10 will be spent at the hotel on the beach and by the pool.
On the morning of the eleventh day, we will head to the legendary Haleakala volcano, where the whole island opens up from a height of more than 3 kilometres. In the afternoon we will fly back to Los Angeles, arriving late in the evening and checking into one of the airport hotels.
On the twelfth day, before flying back to Europe, we can spend a visit to Universal Studios in Hollywood or just take a stroll around Santa Monica and the famous pier or the residential area of Venice with its famous canals. In the evening, we will fly back home.
On the thirteenth day, due to the time delay, we will arrive in the evening.
